Google Review Testimonials

Dr. Saleem Mujahid have done my knee replacement, at first i was not sure about operation but after our first meet I was confident and convinced enough by sir’s nature and attitude. He made sure that before surgery I am mentally and physically ready for it. It was an overwhelming experience staying under his observation also everyone here is friendly, understanding and treats patient’s as their first priority. Daycare nightcare was absolutely excellent motivated me to walk on the next day of surgery with continuous improvement. Therapy, staff, food, or i should say everything was comfortable and never felt like i am at hospital. So i would recommend to everyone just go for it without worrying it’s safe and will boost your morale health confidence. Thank you sir for this help and giving me confidence and knees for walking on my own withouts support with dignity

Total Hip Replacement Surgey

Surgical Excellence Under

TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT

This surgery involves a technique in which the ball of hip and socket is carefully replaced. The procedure generally lasts for a few hours, the doctor removes the diseased parts and replaces them with new artificial parts.

TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

This procedure involves resurfacing of the worn out or damaged knee joint with a blend of metal and polyethene prostheses.

TOTAL SHOULDER REPLACEMENT

The goal of shoulder replacement arthroplasty is to restore the best possible function to the joint by removing scar tissue, balancing muscles and replacing the destroyed joint surfaces with artificial ones.

TOTAL ELBOW REPLACEMENT

It is generally carried out if there is a tumour in or around the elbow, badly broken bone in the upper or lower arm, severely damaged tissues in the elbow or osteoarthritis.

LIMB SALVAGE SURGERY

This procedure is carried out to stop the spreading of cancer across the limb. In this, the diseased bone is removed and the limb is reconstructed using metal implants.

REVISION HIP & KNEE REPLACEMENT

Some of our body parts wear out with time. When this happens, the patients experience swelling, pain, clicking and instability in their joint replacement. This calls for another surgery that would require amending the joint.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

  • What is a total knee replacement?

  • The term “total knee replacement” is misleading.

The knee is not totally removed and a new knee inserted. Rather, the ends of the femur and tibia are capped with an implant device referred to as prosthesis. The process is similar to having a crown put on your tooth. A plastic spacer is attached to the prosthesis that creates a smooth cushioning effect much like the original cartilage. Relieving the bone-on-bone contact eliminates the pain and allows you to return to an active, healthy lifestyle.

  •  What is the recovery time?

  • Everyone heals from surgery at a different pace. It is difficult to compare

yourself with others, as individual situations lead some patients to recover faster than others; however, in general, patients will use a walker or crutches while in the hospital. These devices are typically for balance, and patients may weight-bear as their comfort allows. It is our experience that as patients comfort, confidence, and strength allows, they may progress to a cane. Typically, patients may progress to a cane at 2-3 weeks. By 4-6 weeks’ time, many patients are not requiring any external supports. It may take up to 3 months to return to normal function and patients continue to improve, as far as their comfort, mobility, and function for up to a year after their surgery.

  • Am I too old for this surgery?

  • Your overall health is more of a determining factor than your age. Prior to the surgery, you will be asked to see one of the Internal Medicine Physicians to assess any health risks. All measures will be taken to prepare you for a successful surgical outcome.

  • Will I need physical therapy when I go home?

  • Your surgeon will order physical therapy after discharge as needed. Some require post surgery physiotherapy some don’t. It varies from patient to patient. If you cannot attend outpatient physical therapy, an in-home therapist may be arranged. The number of physical therapy sessions is based on your individual progress.

  • What is the success rate for total knee replacements?

  • Approximately 90-95% of patients report good to excellent results in terms of pain relief. Most are able to significantly increase activity and mobility and return to the activities they participated in prior to the onset of arthritis pain.

  • How long will my new knee last?

  • There are no guarantees on how long your new knee will last. Various factors such as weight, activity type, activity level, etc., can affect the usable life of your new knee prosthesis. Current studies indicate that the average knee prosthesis lasts for 20-25 years. With new materials and procedures, this expectation may change.

  • Will I be in a lot of pain?

  • Our joint center specializes in joint replacement surgery. As such, we have considerable experience in caring for patients after surgery and know how to keep our patients comfortable. Pain medications are given as in epidural catheter/regional blocks/injections and through oral route depending upon your severity of pain. Ask for your pain medications before the pain gets bad. It is more difficult to get the pain under control if you wait. Most people do not require strong pain medication after the first day and can switch to oral medications.

  • When can I return to work?

  • The physical demands required for your job, as well as your own progress, will determine when you can return to work. Some people with very sedentary jobs may be able to return sooner. Your surgeon will tell you when you can return to work.

  • Will I need to have my knee replaced again in the future?

  • Some people have a knee replacement that lasts their entire lives; other people need to have the procedure repeated. The decline in knee function over time of several years or due to infection may result in a limp, stiffness, or instability. Patients who demonstrate these symptoms and signs may require revision joint surgery.
